I really, really hate this sh*t. I can not believe that this is really happening!! I have listened to you guys ever since THE BLAZE went off and you came in. You guys were the ones to inspire my way of thinking towards hard rock music. HEC, I have to be the only hard rocker Mexican-American who ever loved this kind of stuff and now it is all over! I can't believe that R&B **** will take its place! There won't be anymore Metallica,Tool, White Zombie, AC/DC for me to here. ****, there won't be any more OZZY!!!! What the f*ck happened, man! After this, there will be no more good music to listen too. 97.9 won't be even close to this station. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE stay! I trully will miss this station. I even have you on my preset dial on my radio, dammit! I am trully pissed off about this desicion happening.

You know, I for one will miss the Rock. I own 150+ CD's but it is a pain in the @ss to go through them, and pick out a good mix all night. That is the beauty of radio. You have a free service that plays a mix of music. Some fast, some slow, some new, some old, and you never know what is coming next (unless they tell you). I will truly miss the Rock. One more thing, for those of you who say that you are upset because you don't have anyone to tell you about upcoming concerts... who do you think helps book the concerts in the first place? Oh well, I just hope the rumors are correct, and we have a new station to listen to some time soon... The motor on my CD player is going to burn out soon... Danimal

You smell what THE ROCK is cookin? (It should be the **** suits). Hell, I've wanted to work at this station ever since I wanted to get into radio 4 years ago. I'll never get the chance. If any of the jocks do read this, you guys did a HELLUVA JOB. I want to take this last chance to thank all of those that signed my ***ES THAT ROCK THE MASSES t-shirt last year. I have that shirt framed and now it means a lot more to me. Eddie Webb, I went away to Illinois State when you came to THE ROCK, but when I came in, I was able to hear you and you kick ***. For the past five months I had dreams of GUNS N ROSES gettin' back together, and a huge spider would tell me that they would come out with a live CD before their new one. I almost died when I was in Chicago in October and you say that GNR will be putting out a live CD. GNR WILL RETURN TO THE TOP OF ROCK N ROLL and it is to **** bad that THE ROCK WON'T BE THERE. CHRIS PAYNE, thanks for the interview a few years back, and to the rest of the jocks, good luck to you and you all are the greatest jocks that Chicago has heard. please feel free to e-mail me: eplemon@mail.ilstu.edu

Well, many people on here have been agruing about the stations future, and I am in agreement that it is not a good thing that we are loosing our station. I have already made a couple of posts to this forum in the past couple of days. I would just like to thank all of the DJ's, and everyone that worked for the Rock, not for Chancellor Media. For everyone else, I did a bit of my own research. Check it out. This is what our station is going to become. Sorry it is so long.... ******************************************************** After Conducting Extensive Market Research Chicago Can't Deny the "Temptations" of Tuning In After conducting extensive market research of radio listeners throughout the Chicago area, Chancellor Media Corporation (Nasdaq: AMFM) will change WRCX's format, unveiling the new Chicago's Jammin' Oldies sound live at an afternoon station kick-off party on November 2, 1998, at The House of Blues, it was announced today by James E. de Castro, Chicago-based President of Chancellor Radio Group. As one of Chicago's Jammin' Oldies core artists, the Temptations are the inspiration for Chancellor to have Dennis Edwards, former legendary Temptations lead singer, in town to officially switch on the new station at the House of Blues. Tested and custom-designed for Chicago audiences, Chicago's Jammin' Oldies -- The New 103.5, introduces a fresh adult contemporary sound that the Windy City can proudly call its own. Broadcasting with a full-strength signal from the top of Sears Tower to the entire Chicago metropolitan area, Chicago's Jammin' Oldies will feature rhythm hits from the 60s, 70s and 80s, hot promotions, listener participation and guest disc jockeys. The New 103.5 targets adults 25-54 with evergreen hit music from artists such as Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Barry White, Chic, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Gloria Gaynor, The Supremes and The Temptations. The New 103.5 format is so unique that it can't be labeled or classified under any traditional radio format. Therefore, at the station launch on the eve of Election Day, and over the following weeks, listeners can vote early and vote often in a contest to select a new name for Chicago's Jammin' Oldies, offering fans an unprecedented opportunity to put their unique stamp on Chicago's radio airwaves. A $25,000 grand prize will be awarded to the listener who comes up with the most appropriate moniker for the new station. Finally, looking after Chicago's loyal rock and roll contingency, Chancellor has entered into an agreement with Bonneville International, the owner of WLUP 97.9 FM, to promote WLUP as an alternative for rock fans while providing an effective medium for advertisers to reach this audience. James de Castro commented, "Chicago is my kind of town, and the goal of Chancellor Media's research and programming strategy is to give listeners what they want. In Chicago that means a new mix that has the energy, soul and passion that is unique to Chicago. This station will deliver on that promise, and we've used Chancellor's prodigious arsenal of programming and management talent to ensure that Chicago's Jammin' Oldies hits the Chicago BULLSeye. "Maintaining programming leadership in the nation's top radio markets is a priority for Chancellor Media. Variations of Chancellor's new format have proven wildly popular with listeners in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Dallas, and our research confirms that Chicagoans also want this fresh, upbeat mix." In reformatting WRCX, Chancellor Media brought to bear its extensive management and programming experience, conducting exhaustive market research to determine listener preferences. Michael Fowler, currently general manager of WRCX will continue in that role at Chicago's Jammin' Oldies, while Charles M. Warfield, Jr. Chancellor's Senior Vice President, Urban Regional Operations and Steve Rivers, Chancellor's legendary Chief Programming Officer collaborated to deliver The New 103.5 sound for Chicago. Steve Rivers, stated, "The Chicago's Jammin' Oldies format addresses the unsatiated demand for an upbeat soundtrack for Chicago. Based on our exhaustive research, it was clear that hip, adult Chicago listeners desired a sound not served by existing mainstream formats, a sound to call their own. And although this format will be attractive to adults, it truly has a mass appeal. With an exciting new format and energetic management team, we're confident we can add The New 103.5 to Chancellor Media's distinguished track record of successful station turnarounds." Michael Fowler, added, "In reformatting WRCX, we are giving Chicago listeners a stake in their listening future. Our listening audience will play a key role in forging the station's personality, and we promise they'll have a great time giving Chicago the music it wants and deserves." Charles Warfield concluded, "We're not content being Chicago's ratings leader -- we want to further build our platform and the attractiveness of this cluster. Consolidation has given us the critical mass and flexibility to serve listeners, and at the same perform at an unprecedented level for advertisers. We intend to succeed on both fronts." In addition to Chicago's Jammin' Oldies - The New 103.5, Chancellor Media also owns WVAZ-FM, WNUA-FM, WLIT-FM, WGCI-AM and WGCI-FM in Chicago. Chancellor Media Corporation is a diversified media company to consist of the Chancellor Radio Group, Chancellor Outdoor Group, Chancellor Television Group and Katz Media, a leading media representation firm. Reflecting announced transactions, Chancellor Radio Group will be the nation's largest radio broadcasting entity with over 465 stations in approximately 105 markets reaching a weekly listener base of over 65 million people. Through the AMFM Radio Network, Chancellor offers syndicated programming nationwide. Internationally, Chancellor has agreed to purchase Primedia Broadcast Group, Inc. which owns and operates eight FM radio stations in Puerto Rico. Upon consummation of announced transactions, in addition to radio, Chancellor will have significant outdoor advertising, television and media representation operations. Chancellor Outdoor Group will be one of the nation's top five outdoor advertising companies operating over 36,000 display faces in 37 states. Chancellor Television Group, through ownership and local marketing agreements, will operate 12 network-affiliated television stations in 8 markets. Chancellor's Katz Media operation, the only full-service media representation firm in the United States serving multiple types of electronic media, will soon add Petry Media Corporation, a leading independent television representation firm.    It's hard to believe that the third largest city in America will soon be without a single major hard rock venue on the radio. Of course classic rock stations are still a dime a dozen, but a little to old for my tastes. As for those who think that all hard rockers are semi-literate morons, I am a straight A college student majoring in computer science who just happens to like my music loud and hard. Oh well, I'll just spend more money on CD's. But who's gonna promote all the younger hard rock acts and give them a listen? Not the Loop, that's for sure. Long live the Rock!!!!!!

Going off the air???!!! Man, this radio station is one bad management decision after another. First you put Mancow on all morning, turning off those of us who'd rather listen to MUSIC on the way to work, then when he FINALLY leaves for Q101, you put those other two bozos on in his place. Can't you idiots figure out that people listen to the radio for MUSIC??? Man, if I wanted to listen to some talking head, I'd rather listen to Rush Limbaugh on WLS. Oh yeah, your other BIG mistake was taking Lew Brutis off your afternoon lineup. He's a funny dude and he doesn't spend his entire shift yacking. He played MUSIC.

I had the opportunity to meet the staff of Rock 103 during Rockstock 98, the people I met lived, bled and breathed the Rock. I find it disgusting at the amount of posts that blame the staff. Do you really think one jock could have saved the Rock? It's all about numbers man, if there's no numbers the people with the suits can do whatever they want. The true people to blame for the fall of the rock is the listeners. Listeners that didn't make it known who there favorite station was. They didn't go to the events and most importantly the advertisers they heard on the Rock. After all, how do you think a radio station brings in money? It's not the music, it's the advertisers! And advertisers won't spend a dime if YOU don't let them know what you're listening too!!!!! Email and petetions are a joke, it WILL NOT help save any radio station!!! Where were you before, when it mattered!?!?!?!? Don't blame the staff of the Rock, trust me, I know how they feel! They are devastated and feel they've let you down on a personal note when in reality, they had NO control. Learn from this, SUPPORT your favorite radio station from the moment you fall in love! Go to the advertisers, tell them you wouldn't be here unless you heard it on (your favorite radio station) buy a big ticket item! Take part in ALL surveys that come your way.

I've been listening to the rock from the beginning, and I've seen stations come and go, and I've seen great DJ's come and go, and I just have to say that The Rock broke new ground for chicago rock stations. Of all the DJ's I've heard, the best have come from The Rock and this blows that it will be no longer. The Rock has influenced me and helped me in deciding my future in Radio Broadcasting, and I was hoping to one day work at the Rock in the near future, but now that dream will never come.    I want to point out a couple of things real quick: First, it was Chancellor Media who killed The Rock. Not the Rock Jocks, not the [racial epithet]s, not the advertisers. Chancellor was pond scum (as we all know), and Chancellor lost $132.6 million last year. There's no sign that they'll pull their heads out of their back orifices any time soon, and that's a good thing for us. The Rock's not gone--Chancellor's gone, and good riddance. Second, if we're going to bring back the Rock (and we are the only ones to do it), we've GOT TO GET ORGANIZED, and not into six little groups, either. Send an e-mail to savetherock@hotmail.com; it's as good as any other address I've seen so far, and we really need to get everyone into one group if we're gonna do anything. We can't bring back Rock 103.5, but we CAN bring back the Rock, and make it better than Chancellor ever could. Best wishes, and rock on.

Are there that many lame *** retards out there that we cool people can't even have ONE f*ckin' radio station?    There was no doubt this was going to happen, this is what happens when the corporatons control the entertainment industry. The fans don't matter, the profit and bottom line matter. Not that the Rock was that great. It played the same songs day after day like al those other rock stations in Chicago. It's a shame that Rebel Radio only plays at night. But it looks like Rock is dead in Chicago. But there is still hope. If one can aquire a shortwave radio, there are good rock stations that can be picked up from Rockford. Of course that doesn't help those of us stuck in our cars in rush hour, impatiently pushing the seek button on our radios looking for a decent song. I might as well take my car radio out and throw it away...... Take up whistling or something..

Do you Have That much free time to just sit around like a bunch of drunken jack @sses and send anonymous letters on the Rock Forum?! And it's bad enough you send them, but ANONYMOUS? Are you guys like P*SSY's or something?! Anyway, Jo, Freak, Sludge, Eddie, Chris and all of you guys, what can I say? I love you all. You were all great, and I don't see any legitamate reason why Chancellor had to close you guys. It's the money right? That just makes me sick. Anyways, I wish all you guys at the Mighty Rock good luck, and we hope to see you in the future...

Every day after school, or any other time when I want to rock out, I turn on the Mighty Rock. Because of ignorant and tasteless corporations, I can no longer do so. The rock was the best station I've ever listened to, the DJ's were funny and they were all extremely nice and down-to-earth. The promo's always gave me a smile every time I heard them, and they sponsored the best concerts I've ever seen. I'm really gonna miss the rock, tears actually start to fall down my face when I think about the loss of such a great station. I never thought that there would be a Chicago without The Mighty Rock. **** you corporations, I hope you're happy.

Now what? From all the e-mail and all the commotion, it's obvious that the idea of a rock station in Chicago is a great idea. I hated the Rock 103.5 after Mancow left - too much Mettalica (and the same song over and over again!), no originality. The DJs were great (except for Jo), but the music selection left a lot to be desired.
How much does it cost to run a big-time radio station? What someone should do is take intiiative, and create a new FM station. No suits involved ... just hard working people who know what they're doing. I'm surprised all the unemployed DJs havent thought of that yet ...
Any idea what's going to happen to everyone? Chances are Freak will go to Mancow ... but what about everyone else? I'll really miss the Traffic Wench. Her voice was just incredible ... hope you're reading this!

I always dug the tunes and production of The Rock. This radio station set the standards by which most rock stations in this country are judged. You guys and gals are class acts, each and every one of ya. I hope we can meet again in our quest for the perfect segue and the best phoner. Conclave ROCKED - thanks for the memories! These truly are dark times. Farewell to you my friends.

In Los Angeles, we went through this about year and a half ago. All you can do is break out the CD's and tapes while you're in the car. But if your near a computer for any part of the day, you can listen the hardest rock station ever to exist over the Net. Go to http://www.knaclive.com and hear the pleasant melodies of Pantera, Metallica, Type-O Negative, etc. The better your connection, the better the sound. Best of all, no commercials! Just Pure Rock...24/7.

It was a great run. I remember in 1983 when WMET 95.5 was around. in Jan of 95 they changed to SOFT ROCK. Then Scott Loftis from WMET came out with REAL PRECIOUS METAL 103.1 Then the BLAZE came around in 1991. then the ROCK. I hate to say this, but I knew it was coming in 96. Jo, Sludge, Chris, Freeeeek!!!!, Mancow, Lue, Julio, Eddie, Scott. as well as The Man Scott Loftis!!! The station was a great one. It will be a well misssed one. I just want to say Thanks for being on the air for as long as you were. I know in the next 5 years we will have another station that plays HEAVY METAL. Maby like Z ROCK OR EVEN LIKE REAL PRECIOUS MEATL. thanks again for all the great years and ROCK STOCK!!!! Bob.

After reading this forum, I was going to be an a$$h_le and make a lot of rude remarks about how unintelligent and pointless most of the comments have sounded--but that wouldn't have done any good; all it would have done is gotten a lot of people angry, and that's not what I'm trying to do. But I -was- disappointed with what I found here--saying "Q101 SUX", making slams against minorities, namecalling and stereotyping and all the rest. And I'm NOT saying this to be a pompous a$$h_le. I have some very real reasons for complaining about the caliber of discussion here: First of all...I'm not so naive as to think that anything we say here will bring the Rock back. It's dead and buried; the papers have been signed and the cash has been stuffed into the pinstriped pocket of the corporate raider. And the end result of that transaction is this: We, the hard-rock fans, are left without an outlet. Oh, sure, there are all kinds of cl***ic-rock stations that will take over the duties of playing Rush, Hendrix, Zepp, Aerosmith, and all the rest--hell, they might even tos in some Kenny Wayne Shepherd or a Black Crowes tune now and then, just to prove how up-to-date they are...but where are we going to hear Tool? Sevendust? Coalchamber? Metallica? Let's face it--unless someone launches a new rock station, the answer to that question is simple: we're not going to hear them anywhere. So we need to convince another corporation to give us a rock station, and right now, this is the main forum we have in which to express our wishes. Here's where the trouble comes in, though. The only thing corporatins are interested in is the bottom line. They get their money from advertisers, who have disgustingly large market-research teams to tell them where the money is and who they should aim their product towards. Obviously, the advertisers are going to want to reach the people with the most money; obviously, the corporations are going to want to create stations with a format that will appeal to advertisers and snag the most listeners. Now--if I was an advertiser reading this forum (and that's not as far-fetched as you might think!), I would come to the following conclusion, right or wrong---I would say that hard-rock fans, those people who listened to the Rock, are semi-literate, unintelligent, closed-minded, racist, sexist, anti-Semitic, homophobic, and fit completely into the Beavis-and-Butthead stereotype that's been handed to the under-30 crowd for the past five years or more. And in the eyes of the marketing-research crowd, people like that have low-paying jobs and (here's the killer) don't have enough money to make advertising to them worthwhile. (Better to advertise to the yuppies and the up-and-comers in this age group--you know, the ones who make lots of cash.) And if the advertisers wouldn't advertise on a station that caters to us, then the corporation isn't going to create a new station to cater to us, and we'll stay right where we are now--totally and completely s--- outta luck. If we want to get anything, we're going to have to stop just venting and start providing them with well-written, cogent, sensible reasons for them to give us what we want--and what we want is a REAL rock station, one that plays something OTHER than just the same classic rock they played ten years ago. (Yes, that's a slam on the Loop...what on earth is Chancellor Media thinking of, telling us to go listen to the Loop??? No, thank you.) I think it's terribly sad that the Rock went out the way it did; hopefully someone else will realize that it wasn't the format that was wrong, but the way it was managed and promoted. --R.

Hey, man. It was a great ride while it lasted, but now it is time for us to stand up and make a difference. WE NEED ANOTHER ROCK STATION IN CHICAGO. How pathetic is it to have the 3rd largest city in the USA, with no rock station? Everyone here has to make a great effort; towards what, I'm not sure yet, but I feel we have enough power together to get something started. I have an idea... Call Rebel Radio. (847) 742-9494. They are on 94.3 FM, 10PM to 6AM. They play EVERYTHING HEAVY (kinda like Freak's Radio Anarchy, only all the time.). Slayer, Pantera, Metallica (old), Coal Chamber, Suicidal Tendencies, Prong, King Diamond, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Type-O Negative, Testament, Anthrax (old), and everything else imagineable. They also support the local scene. Let them know WE are there. Let them know WE will support them. Let them know WE want them to start playing during the day. POWERSURGE of Rebel Radio told me that they are going to try and do so, but it might take as long as 6-8 MONTHS!!! They have to get the sponsors. If you let them know WE are there, they can get the sponsors to get them up and running during the day, for US! It's time to do something... let's do it, and do it forcefully, letting Chancelor Media know that they f*cked up. Scaryguy

No more Mandatory Metallica, no more Sludge's Gumdrop Kingdom? No more Free Form Lunches, Friday's or Weekends?? I quote Don McLean on this one -- for "This is the day, that the music died...." Luckily down here in Champaign there's another Chancellor Media station, Rock 95.3, which is exactly like the Rock back home.    For many years the misfit children of heavy metal have been jerked around with radio. The money you have made at this station, and the popularity you have gained is due ONLY to us. So thanks for using us. Once again we are stuck with urban ****po music. WHY? Because it makes $$$. Keep selling out because one day there will be nothing left for you to sell. We will remember this Chancellor Media. We will not forget. We will make sure we boycott all of your stations and promotions. This was a really big mistake and there is nothing more I would like to see than Chancellor Media go bankrupt. Remember that when you play Queen Latrina or whatever. Black music is NOT the only music on earth. Remember MTV's lawsuit? The one that stated that they HAD to play RAP music? Well maybe its time we all jumped on the minority bandwagon. Reverse discrimination...Hmmmm No, I guess we're all too white to get anything in this country anymore. I have only become predjudice because of things like this. Well anyway, I have lost topic here... When will people like you ever learn to stick with loyalty and not greed?

Unfortunantly the rocks gone. How bout bringing back the blaze. Any drummers out there that live in the western subburbs looking to get involved with an original progressive/power metal and band email me between the ages of 16-21. Some of our influences are Dream Theater, Rush, Yngwie Malmsteen, Iced Earth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and many others. We'd like someone with double b*** drum. Anyway if your interested email me at eaglet1@flash.net and well get something figured out to jam. Were looking to play out ASAP.

Good morning, everyone--I am the person who wrote the response about the postings on this forum and how they might discourage advertisers and corporations from giving us a station to replace the Rock. Due to the lateness of the hour when I wrote that post, not to mention the...um, substance...in my system, I might not have been as clear as I would have liked, and so I'm going to clarify: I am (well, was) a loyal Rock listener. I -am- very upset by the fall of the Rock. I was NOT attempting to stereotype Rock listeners in my post; on the contrary, what I was trying to say is that I don't think this forum does us justice. I think that, despite what some of the postings in this forum might indicate, we're mainly intelligent people who deserve a decent station, and my post was a plea for the people who WON'T express themselves intelligently to THINK about what they're saying, how it makes the Rock listenership as a whole look bad, and how it might discourage advertisers and corporations from giving us another station. THAT's the point I was trying to make...maybe the smoke clouds in my room obscured my meaning, if you know what I mean. Having said that--This is what I found in my mailbox this morning, and it's a perfect example of what I was talking about. The profanity has been altered to get past the Rock's censorship software, but you can bet that the writer didn't use dashes in his letter. (Note: THE FOLLOWING OPINION IS NOT MINE--IT IS A QUOTE FROM AN E-MAIL I RECEIVED! I didn't think I had to point it out quite that clearly, but obviously everything is open to misinterpretation, as you are about to see.) ******************************************************* You Are a f---king b-----h!!!!! What the f---k gives you the rigt to slam all of the metalheads by stereotyping them into such stupidty. You b-----h are the stupid ho. You best hope we never meet ever!! I can't believe hat you would not be moved by losing sush a great thing as Rock 103.5. No, nstead you take a page and a half to rip on its listeners. You are really low to do that when we no longer hae a voice in this city. In closing your a big f----king b----h!!!! P.s. I'm not as stupid as you think all rockers are because after I type this letter i'm unloding the info from your e_mail and i'm giving it to everyone at that forum. Fuehrer@blackhawksfan.com ***************************************************** (END OF QUOTE) Oh, the places I could go with this one. Instead, I'll post my response to der Fuehrer: ***************************************************** That's exactly the point I was making. I -am- upset about the Rock going down. And what I said is this--I know the listeners are NOT as stupid as the letters on that forum would indicate...and we deserve a decent station--but we're not going to GET one if the only word people can use to express their indignation is F***K!!! THAT's what I was saying--and you've proven my point EXACTLY with your response. Oh, and incidentally--if ANYTHING happens to me now, at least I'll know where to go. Thanks for the info! --R. ***************************************************** I apologize if I've offended anyone else--but unlike Mr. Hitler, I'm ***uming the -rest- of you have the critical-thinking skills to understand that no offense was meant. If, as Adolf so eloquently put it, I was ripping on the listeners, I'd be ripping on myself. Now--does anyone know if there are any plans for another station to try to step into the Rock's shoes?? --R

I'm finally glad the 1035 station is gone. It was never the same after the BLAZE went down. I will forever love the BLAZE, where they played the best bands that nobody else did, like Vince Neil, Firehouse, Slaughter, Roxy Blue, SleezBeez, Cinderella, ToraTora, MSG, and UFO. The only sad thing about the Rock going down is the departurte of Eddie Webb. He was down-to-earth and didn't think he was God like Sludge and that dumbf*ck Julio. This was no rock station, at least half the music was played on Q101, especially in their early years. By the way, Cinderella is currently touring and should be in Chicago sometime in November. Long live Bob Barnes-Watts!!!!!!!

THIS SUCKS!!! I've been listening to the rock since it began. I heard the rock was bought out by an R&B station. There are plenty of other fking stations to buy!!!! The loop is no where as good as the rock. I want classic rock, current rock, and metal. No station offers all of that. I am pissed!

I am sick and tired of oldies, rap, lite, sports and talk. In general, Chicago radio is a joke. It is the corporations that matter not the listeners. The only rock in town now seems to be classic,PLEASE! For once it this city could we have a station with the balls to play cinderella, slayer, scorpions testa etc. There are too many talk, rap classic rock sports. How about a station that play deep cuts of metal and hard rock instead the same songs over and over again,A radio station like the blaze with more variety and deep cuts.In closing I Have two words for chicago radio in two words,BITE ME!

You guys need to lighten up. It's only a radio station. You people say stupid things like, "Now how am I going to listen to Metallica?" Ever heard of a CD? But then again, if you never bought a Metallica CD before, then you shouldn't buy one now, you posers.

Man, this sucks! Where am I gonna go to hear some b*tch-slappin' rack rock now? Yeah 97.9 plays some cool heavy classic songs now, but how is heavy stuff supposed to grow without any sopport of new bands. Now all the talents gonna go to hell! No ones gonna care about guitar riffs, and some bad***ed solos, it's all gonna be that three chord no talent Q101 ****. Real Music has Died! Weak no-talents are moving in!

SAVING THE ROCK I think the only way to go about this ordeal is by buying The Rock a new station. We can not afford it ourselves but I am sure the big groups like Metallica, Local H, and more would donate money to get the Rock Jocks a new station. Me and someone else are already collaborating on this idea. If anyone else is interested in this, e-mail me.

All I gotta say is: This is all bullsh!t! THE @sses that rocked the masses definitely will not be forgotten. Corporate bullsh!t can fu$k itself. I can't imagine sitting in the car or at home and having my radio on any other station than THE ROCK. When we got rid of "The Blaze" we were hesitant to hear what would follow. What a magnificent ride it's been. To all the D.J.'s and voices that kept us going:"F^ck yeah!" The one thing I'm going to truly miss is ROCKSTOCK. I've been to all three and they kicked major @ss. So long to a #1 Radio staion (the one that made Mancow). Chicago and all cities that heard THE ROCK will fight to get you back. I'm definitely in line for that one. Thanks for the memories 103.5. I can tell future generations about the only radio station there ever was.

i've known for the past 3 to 4 months this was gonna happen. it was awesome to come home from college and get mandatory metallica at home and school. jim decastro is a deranged idiot who has helped ruin other great stations in the market. the loop, am1000, etc. chancellor has no clue about what they're doing. its a shame that the 184th market gets mandatory metallica, but the greatest city in the world, chicago won't.i hope rebel radio or z rock come back on a full time basis. sludge, eddie, freak, you will all be missed terribley. i hope to hear you in the future. good luck and rock on!!!!oh, by the way chancellor, i've got two words for you ***holes, suck it!!!!!
